Path of Exile Item Upgrading The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln. It is an essential element of the game and can improve an item's damage, strength, or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be handled with care. Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a comparable item.
